In-home beauty tips that will leave
you feeling beautiful
and relaxed.
In the hustle and bustle of women’s busy schedules,
in-home beauty treatments save time and money. Why spend
lots of money at a spa when you can relax and pamper yourself
in the privacy of your own home?
Relax with a soothing bubble bath
Find a time where you can be uninterrupted for at least
30 minutes. To make your own salt-bath, mix equal parts
of Epsom or Kosher salt and baking soda and add to warm
water. It will make your skin soft and smooth. You can
also use a bubble bath mix or bath beads, which are available
at your local drugstore. Soaking in a bath will relax
both you and your muscles.
If you’re feeling down, try a mood enhancing bath.
Vanilla has the ability to revive and lift spirits, so
add ¼ cup of pure vanilla to a warm bath. The scent
of pine can also do the same. Take a handful of pine needles
and place them in a foot of an old panty hose. Knot the
hose and tie it around the faucet of the bath. Let the
water seep through the hose to create a wonderfully fresh
scent.
Soften feet with a refreshing foot soak and exfoliation
Apply Pretty Feet & Hands rough skin remover on dry
heels and rough patches. Massage your feet until
dead skin sloughs off. For a refreshing foot soak, mix
3 drops of lavender oil or crushed lavender petals and
a fresh squeezed lemon to warm water. After
soaking, damp-dry and apply lotion. To make your
feet extremely soft and silky, put socks on after you apply
the lotion; this will help moisturize the skin.
Reduce tension with a peaceful environment
For the added spa-esque feeling, try arranging scented
candles throughout your bathroom. If you have a garden,
cut some flowers and keep them in a vase in the bathroom.
The look and smell of fresh flowers provides a serene
environment. You can also play soothing music or purchase
a miniature running fountain, available at most home
stores.
Restore skin with a reviving facial
Unveil your radiant, glowing skin with a face mask, available
at your local drugstore. Put the mask on prior to taking
a bath, and then relax in the bath while your mask sets.
Leave on for up to 10 minutes, and then wash with warm
water. To soothe swollen, tired eyes, place a cucumber
slice over each eye.
Try a homemade facial cleanser to rid your face of all
impurities that may be clogging your pours. Begin by mixing
whole milk with enough wheat germ to make a soft paste.
Add a small amount of honey and mix well. Rinse your face
with warm water and then gently massage the mixture onto
your damp face. Rinse with warm and then cool water. Repair
facial skin that’s been exposed to all the dirt and
grime of the day by applying moisturizer or night cream
to your face.
Make your hands look beautiful with a manicure
Whether
you prefer your nails to be long or short, they can still
look stunning with a little know-how. Begin by exfoliating
your hands with Pretty Feet & Hands, and then wash
with soap and water.
- Using a double-sided emery board, file nails using
a gentle stroke. Avoid corners of your nails as this
can weaken them. Begin to shape your nails. The most
popular shape to use is oval, but choose what is most
suited to your hand and finger shape.
- Apply a softener to your cuticles and allow
it to sit for a minute or so. Transfer hands to a bowl
of warm water and soak for an additional few minutes
and then gently push back the cuticles. If hangnails
are present, carefully clip them.
- Apply hand lotion and begin to massage the palm
of your hand with the thumb of your other hand. This
will help to circulate the blood. Work your way over
the remainder of the hand and then repeat giving equal
time to the other hand.
- Before color is applied to nails, they must
be cleaned with nail polish remover. Once your nails
are ready for polish, pick up a small amount of polish
on your brush and paint one stroke down the center of
your nail. Your brush should hold just enough color to
accomplish this. Stroke the sides of the nail and you
are done. The nail should be completely colored in three
strokes. Allow to set for a minute or so before applying
the second coat. Wait until polish is set (dry to the
touch) and then apply the top coat. Don't skip this step
as it not only adds life to your manicure, it will protect
your nails as well.
- Sanitize all of your equipment with alcohol
and when they are dry, store them away until the next
manicure.
Moisture your skin with a night treatment
Before you go to bed, apply Pretty Feet & Hands rough
skin remover to your hands and massage until rough skin
sloughs off. Rinse and generously apply Vaseline
and then put on a pair of cotton gloves. Your hands will
be incredibly soft by morning.
Finish your treatment by slipping into your favorite loungewear
and settle in for a quiet “just for me” evening!
